The Beam package consists of beams and columns. Beam to beam and beam to column connections can be saved while detailing the support beam and later recall the connection while detailing the filler beam or column, thereby reducing the amount of input and errors in connection matching. Sloping beams will be drawn in position and may be sloping and skewed, (hip and valley). Internal connections can be square with the flange of a sloping beam or vertical. Set the configuration so beams are detailed the way your customer wants them, (blocks, tails, marks).

Below is a list of some of the features in the Beam package.

Key Features

  1. Sloping beams are drawn in position.

  2. Hip and Valley connections are possible for end connection.

  3. Beam to beam connection matching.

  4. Use ASD or LRFD in developing end connections. Enter end reaction, calculate end reaction or use maximum rows.

  5. Main member and all sub pieces automatically shop billed for you.

  6. Detail in imperial or metric.

  7. Save CNC data and extract the data in the DSTV file format.

Automatic calculations are:

  1. Rows of bolts for end connection.

  2. Length and depth of blocks at top and bottom flange

  3. Flange width cuts for clearance in column web connection.

  4. Minus dimensions.

  5. Center to center of holes in clip or end plate for beam to column connection.

  6. Tail dimensions.

  7. Overall length.

  8. Cut length.

  9. Slope lengths on sloping beams.

  10. Thickness of end connection checked if in tension.

Options include:

  1. Use fabricator's standard bolted and welded clip marks or use generic type aa, ab or a1, b1 or aa1, ab1.

  2. Carry sub marks through.

  3. Tail to clip or end of beam.

  4. Tail every hole or first hole in a group.

  5. Vary the distance from the clip to the end of the beam.

  6. Out to out can be from clip to clip or from end of beam to clip.

  7. Blocks dimensioned from clip or from end of beam.

  8. Minus dimension can be increased 1/16" at both ends or at one end and half web at the other end when framing into beam webs.

  9. Beams can be sloping or level.

  10. Bevel flanges for welding or cut square.

  11. Center to center, (control), dimension can be placed at either end.

  12. Overall dimension can be placed at either end.

  13. Put edge distance at bottom of clip angle.

  14. Beam to beam connection matching.

  15. Horizontal dimensions can be above or below the beam.

  16. Add connections after beam is detailed.
